Kurakkan Halapa

Kurakkan Halapa / Halape  is a traditional Sri Lankan sweet which we use for tea time. The main ingredient is Ragi Flour(Kurakkan flour). Find detailed recipe below.

INGREDIENTS:

Ingredients required to make Kurakkan Halapa.

  • 125 g Rice flour
  • 125g Kurakkan flour
  • pinch of salt
  • 80 ml Water

For Pani Pol mixture

  • 150 g coconut grated
  • 75 g sugar or Honey
  • 1 Clove

METHOD:

  • Heat the honey and add the grated coconut and mix well. Remove from heat and set aside.
  • In a large bowl mix Pani pol mixture with kurakkan and rice  flour and make a dough.
  • Add a little water if desired.
  • Now place a little dough in the center of the kande leaf and fold it in half and press the dough evenly.
  • If you can’t find kande leaves use foil paper instead.
  • When everything is done place the leaves or wrapped foil in a steamer and steam it for 10-15 minutes or until well done.
