Devilled Bean Curd(Tofu)

Tofu, also called bean curd, is a food made by coagulating soy milk and then pressing the resulting curds into soft white blocks.

Ingredients:

  • 500g Bean curd(tofu)
  • 100 g Corn Flour
  • 100g  Tomato
  • 100g Green bell pepper
  • 1 large onion
  • 2 tbsp Chopped garlic and ginger
  • 8 Crushed red chilies
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 tbsp Soya sauce
  • 1/2 cup Tomato sauce or ketchup
  • 1/2 tbsp Chilli Powder
  • 1/2 tbsp Black Pepper
  • 1 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tbsp chilli paste
  • 1 Egg
  • Cooking oil

 

Method:

  • Drain the Tofu and cut into regular size cubes.
  • Season with salt ,pepper and turmeric powder and set aside for few minutes.
  • Break one egg into a bowl and whisk it well. Drop the tofus  one at a time using a fork.Drain the excess batter and drop it into the corn flour  and coat it on all sides.
  • Heat a frying pan and deep fry the Tofu until slightly brown.
  • Cut the tomato, onion, and pepper into regular size square pieces.
  • Heat a pan and add a little cooking oil and add the onions. When it turns light brown add chopped ginger and garlic.
  • Add the pepper pieces and stir well.
  • Then add Bell pepper, tomato and Crushed red chilies
  • Now add red chilies powder,chilli paste, crushed chilies and Soya sauce stir well.
  • Lastly add ketchup and tomatoes. Remove from heat.
