Here is the Milkmaid Sesame Aluwa recipe for you all. A traditional Sri Lankan delicacy made from Sesame.
INGREDIENTS:
- Milkmaid: 1 small tin
- Water : ¾ tin
- Sugar : 500 g
- Cut stewed pineapple :200g
- Roasted sesame :150 g
- Margarine: 45 – 50 g
- Chopped cashew :30 g
- Ginger preserve : 3 tbsps.
- Cardamom : 6 nos. crushed
- Vanilla : 2 tablespoons
METHOD:
- In a saucepan , mix milkmade, water and sugar, and cook until thick. Then add stewed pineapple and ginger preserve. Further cook for a few minutes till water evaporates.
- Then add 60g of sesame, cardamoms and vanilla. Cook until ball consistency is formed.
- Take off fire and spread mixture on the table. Sprinkle rest of the sesame seeds on top and roll out. Cut into diamond shaped pieces.
