Aggala (with rice flour)

Aggala a sweet for your tea time, for treat your visitors or Sinhala and Tamil new year table.

Egg rice

INGREDIENTS:

For 18 aggala pills

  • 3/4 pound of half-boiled rice (Miltard or some other boiled rice is available)
  • 1/2 pound of minced coconut
  • 1 3/4 pounds of Kithul honey
  • 10 crushed peppercorns (optional)

 

METHOD:

  • Wash the rice and fry till it turns brown
  • Melt the honey once until it boils. Keep 1/2 cup of honey out of this honey (to be taken later if needed)
  • Put coconut in boiling honey and cook 2-3 times till it boils
  • Leave to simmer for 5 – 10 minutes.
  • Gradually add the rice flour. Stir well. Add more honey if needed. The mixture should be slightly stiff
