Sri Lankan Roasted Curry Powder (Badapu Thunapaha)

Roasted curry powder is one of the essentials in a Sri Lankan kitchen. Most of the recipes require roasted curry powder. You will love the aroma of this curry powder, even the Sri Lankan dishes cooked using homemade roasted curry powder are aromatic and delicious.

Polos Ambula (Green Jackfruit Curry)

Polos Curry or Polos Maluwa is a Sri Lankan spicy dish popular among most of people. Polos is the common Sri Lankan name for Baby Jackfruit. Polos Curry tastes good when cooked with a good amount of spices. In Sri Lanka, this is mostly cooked in low flame for few hours & in an earthen pot.

Pol Sambal

Pol Sambola (coconut sambol) is a traditional Sri Lankan dish made from coconut. In Sri Lanka we eat a spicy coconut sambol made with fresh grated coconut, chili and onions.

Wambatu Salada(Fried Brinjal Salad)

This is a easy salad which is ideal for dinner with rice and curry. Salting the eggplant before cooking helps cut down on the amount of oil that gets soaked up.

Tempered Potatoes(Ala Themparaduwa)

This  potato dish is made very often in Sri Lankan households and it’s one of my favourites. The authentic  Sri Lankan tempered potatoes are not deep fried, but tempered with a little oil. Deep frying the potatoes adds more flavour to the dish. If you prefer the authentic way you can skip the deep frying.

Sinhala Achcharu (Sinhala Pickle)

Achcharu’ is a Sinhala term to describe a ‘mix of ingredients’ and is used to add flavour to a main meal, especially lunch. Achcharu is made in various ways in different parts of the island and varies in taste from region to region. Some favourite bases include mango, lime, onions with chilli, olives and ambarella

Kiri-Kos (Jack-fruit curry)

Jackfruit is very healthy, loaded with numerous vitamins and minerals, plus isoflavones, phytonutrients, and antioxidants. Jackfruit is only second to rice for Sri Lankans. Rice is the staple food. After that we use jackfruit in different way in our food. We have different recipes using jackfruit from its young stage, to mature jackfruit to ripen fruit.

Prawn curry

Experience the Prawn Curry recipe and enjoy the dinner meal.First of all remove the Prawns shells. First pull off the head. Then rinse the prawn in water. Remove the shell from the middle part of the prawn. Hold the exposed top end and pull the tail to remove the rest of the shell.
